I really really need to get better at posting here more frequently! If you want to stay up to date, then the best way is to follow me on Instagram: brownnails.
Anyway, I rarely ever buy anything from Forever 21 - I’m not a huge fan of their corporate ethics, particularly in relation to their use of sweatshop labor, but also because I never really like anything that I try on. But, I was wandering around their store the other day and discovered they have these bins full of nail polishes close to the register. They were priced on average about $2.80, so I dived in. Here’s my haul from two separate visits (save for one - I forgot to include that in the picture):
Some of these were on sale for 69cents, so I really didn’t end up spending that much money! I have to say that my general experience with these polishes has been fairly positive - the formula seems fine, they’re usually opaque in 2-3 coats and dry fast. I mean, they’re good, cheap polishes - and if you find a color that you like, I would say go for it. The only thing I really don’t like about their polishes is the terrible lack of creativity when it comes to names. I’ve already swatched a few of these before, but this one that I had a few weeks ago is called Navy/Royal:
It’s really a gorgeous, shimmery dark blue with a black/purple undertone. I really, really loved this color on me. I felt it matched some of the more expensive blues I’ve seen in other name and indie brand polishes. Here’s another look:
My middle nail kinda looks weird in this photo because it cracked on me and I had to use the tea-bag method to try and hold it together, so the polish went on a little thicker and uneven on it, although you can’t really tell much so in real life.
Like I said, if you find a color that you really like, these polishes at $2.80 or less are worth a buy.
